Matt is a Partner as Mortenson Taggart Adams LLP. He is an experienced trial lawyer who has completed over 40 jury trials to verdict during his career. His current practice includes defending automotive clients in cases involving fraud-based claims, and warranty claims under the Commercial Code, California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
Prior to joining the firm, Matt served as a criminal prosecutor for over 11 years in Riverside County. As a Deputy DA, he handled various types of cases, including domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and homicide. For the last six years, Matt worked in the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit. He most recently served as the unit’s Trial Team Leader. He handled several high-profile cases and provided trainings on the investigation of child sexual abuse cases to investigators state and countywide.
Matt earned his B.A. from California Lutheran University and his J.D. from Chapman University. Outside of the courtroom, Matt volunteered as a mentor at local elementary and high schools. He enjoys coaching his children’s basketball, soccer, and flag football teams.
